A Birthday that is.... Now you dont have to wait till the last minute to plan a birthday party. Because it comes once a year!! In the past few months I have had several calls and been to several parties where they have just "thrown together" a birthday party. Chuckie Cheese and Magic Mountain are cool places for kids. But for event planners a nightmare. Wouldnt you want a personalized party for you, your child or a loved one where you can control the theme, the games, the activity and not all the headache of thousands of kids running around? There is no need for this. You can accomplish a fabulous party!! YES YOU CAN!! I decided to share some tips with all you last minute planners to get you on track for a more prepared birthday celebration. 1. CREATE A CHECKLIST - First things first; create a checklist for the celebration. This can be an excel spreadsheet or buy a notebook just for the planning. Map out your theme, rough estimate of guests, menu, and decorations. 2. BOOK IN ADVANCE - If your planning to have the celebration at a banquet hall most allow you to book 12 months in advance. If you want to host the event at a friend of family members home letting them know in advance is the utmost respect. 3. CREATE BUDGET & SAVE - None of our are Donald Trump here so you know how much you want to spend. Say for instance you dont want to go over $1,000 well then thats your budget. Setup a special account and save money each week or month until you reach you budget. 4. ORDER IN ADVANCE - Did you know that ordering decorations on line in advance not only ensure you have everything you need but you can also save money if there is a sale going on. It also ensures you dont have to wait to shop in a store at the last minute and they dont have all the supplies you need. 5. SMOOTH SAILING - Now on the day of your celebration you have no stress you have everything all planned out. The celebration will move along with smooth sailing. Now if you cant handle these steps do hire a professional that can ensure a smooth and impressive event. Celebrity Style Events 614.354.2676

One of the top trends in weddings and events for 2011 is "Paris Inspired" Deemed as one of the most romantic places in the world, the french not only have their own language but decor, food, pasties and wine. I've been in love with Paris ever since Carrie Bradshaw on Sex and the City. She went to live in the city for love and although most of the time spend in Paris she was alone and lova-less she did find love as Big swept her off her feet as he came to her rescue right when she needed to be rescued. Dont you like me wanna go to Paris for just one night with that special someone??? Here's my Paris inspired dinner for two... First you must set the scene with some nice dim lighting and a fabulous table scape. Here's a closer look... Chose a dish that he wont have to do much guess work i.e when you think of french food you think of?? This dish is super simple. Bistro Roast Chicken - 2 chicken leg quarters (about 1 1/2 pounds)
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh or 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh or 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh or 1 teaspoon dried rosemary, crushed
- 2 teaspoons olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 whole garlic heads
Preparation - Preheat oven to 375°.
- Rinse chicken with cold water; pat dry. Trim excess fat. Loosen skin from thigh and leg by inserting fingers, gently pushing between skin and meat. Combine basil and next 5 ingredients (basil through pepper). Rub herb mixture under loosened skin. Place chicken on a broiler pan. Insert meat thermometer into meaty part of thigh, making sure not to touch bone.
- Remove white papery skin from garlic heads (do not peel or separate the cloves). Wrap each head separately in foil; place on broiler pan with chicken. Bake at 375° for 45 minutes. Increase oven temperature to 450° (do not remove chicken from oven). Bake 30 minutes or until thermometer registers 180°. Cover chicken loosely with foil; let stand 10 minutes. Discard skin.
Pommes Frites - 3/4 pound Yukon gold or red potatoes, cut into 3 x 1/4-inch sticks
- 2 teaspoons olive oil
- 2 teaspoons chopped fresh or 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic salt
- Cooking spray
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh chives
Preparation - Preheat oven to 450°.
- Combine first 4 ingredients in a large zip-top plastic bag; seal and shake to coat. Arrange potatoes in a single layer on a baking sheet coated with cooking spray. Bake at 450° for 30 minutes, turning once. Toss with chives.

Hello Monday, and its a rainy Monday indeed. I was thinking of "Rain Inspired Weddings" where umbrellas and rain boots were a must. Look at this inspiring wedding board. I love this use of umbrellas in this board. Also, arent the rain boots on the bridesmaids awesome?? Bella Umbrella's has some amazing umbrellas that can also be rented for your big day. I especially love this cotton lace one here. I love the classic look of the umbrella. Look at there umbrella's at www.BellaUmbrella.com Wanna go for a more classic rain boot for your wedding? Today is the first day of Black History Month and what better way to start the day then celebrating African American Wedding Traditions Jumping The Broom is said to origin from West and Central Africa and is to symbolize the start of a new beginning when they jump the broom. Tying The Knot is when the couple has their wrists tied together and is to symbolize unity affirming the commitment. Tasting Four Elements is one that isnt heard of to often but it symbolizing that the newlyweds will be able to get through anything in their marriage. The bride and groom sample four different flavors; Lemon for sour, Vinegar for bitter, Cheyenne for hot, and Honey for sweet.
